After nine years at Duke, Dorothy’s graduation session was an especially meaningful one! She attended Duke for undergrad and stayed for medical school, so we spent the morning around campus capturing some of her final moments as a Duke student before officially becoming a doctor. Of course, we made plenty of stops around Duke Chapel for those classic Duke graduation photos.

Rather than wearing a traditional white graduation dress, she wore a gorgeous black and green embroidered dress that looked beautiful against an evening on Duke’s campus. She also incorporated an special detail by wearing her mom’s shoes. I love when graduates make their sessions feel like their own, whether that means choosing an outfit you love, incorporating something sentimental, or both.

Her sweet peekapoo, Frodo, joined us for some of her session too! She brought a friend along to help with him, which is a great idea if you’re planning to include your dog in your graduation session. Having an extra person there to hold your pup between photos makes it much easier to get a mix of portraits with and without them.

Dorothy was so much fun to work with, and you could tell how much leaving Duke meant to her after calling it home for nearly a decade. I am so excited for her as she prepares for her next chapter at Harvard. Congratulations to this Duke Medical School graduate, and wishing her all the best as she begins life as a doctor!
